  24. .TH curl_mime_init 3 "22 August 2017" "libcurl" "libcurl"
  25. .SH NAME
  26. curl_mime_init - create a mime handle
  27. .SH SYNOPSIS
  28. .nf
  29. #include <curl/curl.h>
  30. curl_mime *curl_mime_init(CURL *easy_handle);
  31. .fi
  32. .SH DESCRIPTION
  33. \fIcurl_mime_init(3)\fP creates a handle to a new empty mime structure.
  34. This mime structure can be subsequently filled using the mime API, then
  35. attached to some easy handle using option \fICURLOPT_MIMEPOST(3)\fP within
  36. a \fIcurl_easy_setopt(3)\fP call or added as a multipart in another mime
  37. handle's part using \fIcurl_mime_subparts(3)\fP.
  38. \fIeasy_handle\fP is used for part separator randomization and error
  39. reporting. Since 7.87.0, it does not need to be the final target handle.
  40. Using a mime handle is the recommended way to post an HTTP form, format and
  41. send a multi-part email with SMTP or upload such an email to an IMAP server.
  42. .SH EXAMPLE
  43. .nf
  44. int main(void)
  45. {
  46. CURL *easy = curl_easy_init();
  47. curl_mime *mime;
  48. curl_mimepart *part;
  49. /* Build an HTTP form with a single field named "data", */
  50. mime = curl_mime_init(easy);
  51. part = curl_mime_addpart(mime);
  52. curl_mime_data(part, "This is the field data", CURL_ZERO_TERMINATED);
  53. curl_mime_name(part, "data");
  54. /* Post and send it. */
  55. curl_easy_setopt(easy, CURLOPT_MIMEPOST, mime);
  56. curl_easy_setopt(easy, CURLOPT_URL, "https://example.com");
  57. curl_easy_perform(easy);
  58. /* Clean-up. */
  59. curl_easy_cleanup(easy);
  60. curl_mime_free(mime);
  61. }
  62. .fi
  63. .SH AVAILABILITY
  64. As long as at least one of HTTP, SMTP or IMAP is enabled. Added in 7.56.0.
