  23. .TH CURLOPT_CAPATH 3 "17 Jun 2014" "libcurl 7.37.0" "curl_easy_setopt options"
  24. .SH NAME
  25. CURLOPT_CAPATH \- directory holding CA certificates
  26. .SH SYNOPSIS
  27. .nf
  28. #include <curl/curl.h>
  29. CURLcode curl_easy_setopt(CURL *handle, CURLOPT_CAPATH, char *capath);
  30. .fi
  31. .SH DESCRIPTION
  32. Pass a char * to a null-terminated string naming a directory holding multiple
  33. CA certificates to verify the peer with. If libcurl is built against OpenSSL,
  34. the certificate directory must be prepared using the openssl c_rehash utility.
  35. This makes sense only when used in combination with the
  36. \fICURLOPT_SSL_VERIFYPEER(3)\fP option.
  37. The \fICURLOPT_CAPATH(3)\fP function apparently does not work in Windows due
  38. to some limitation in openssl.
  39. The application does not have to keep the string around after setting this
  40. option.
  41. The default value for this can be figured out with \fICURLINFO_CAPATH(3)\fP.
  42. .SH DEFAULT
  43. A default path detected at build time.
  44. .SH PROTOCOLS
  45. All TLS based protocols: HTTPS, FTPS, IMAPS, POP3S, SMTPS etc.
  46. .SH EXAMPLE
  47. .nf
  48. CURL *curl = curl_easy_init();
  49. if(curl) {
  50. curl_easy_setopt(curl, CURLOPT_URL, "https://example.com/");
  51. curl_easy_setopt(curl, CURLOPT_CAPATH, "/etc/cert-dir");
  52. ret = curl_easy_perform(curl);
  53. curl_easy_cleanup(curl);
  54. }
  55. .fi
  56. .SH AVAILABILITY
  57. This option is supported by the OpenSSL, GnuTLS and mbedTLS (since 7.56.0)
  58. backends. The NSS backend provides the option only for backward compatibility.
  59. .SH RETURN VALUE
  60. CURLE_OK if supported; or an error such as:
  61. CURLE_NOT_BUILT_IN - Not supported by the SSL backend
  62. CURLE_UNKNOWN_OPTION
  63. CURLE_OUT_OF_MEMORY
