  5. Help: Pass an ETag from a file as a custom header
  6. Protocols: HTTP
  7. Added: 7.68.0
  8. Category: http
  9. Example: --etag-compare etag.txt $URL
  10. See-also: etag-save time-cond
  11. Multi: single
  12. ---
  13. This option makes a conditional HTTP request for the specific ETag read
  14. from the given file by sending a custom If-None-Match header using the
  15. stored ETag.
  16. For correct results, make sure that the specified file contains only a
  17. single line with the desired ETag. An empty file is parsed as an empty
  18. ETag.
  19. Use the option --etag-save to first save the ETag from a response, and
  20. then use this option to compare against the saved ETag in a subsequent
  21. request.
