  18. =head1 DESCRIPTION
  19. The B<crl> command processes CRL files in DER or PEM format.
  20. =head1 COMMAND OPTIONS
  21. =over 4
  22. =item B<-inform DER|PEM>
  23. This specifies the input format. B<DER> format is DER encoded CRL
  24. structure. B<PEM> (the default) is a base64 encoded version of
  25. the DER form with header and footer lines.
  26. =item B<-outform DER|PEM>
  27. This specifies the output format, the options have the same meaning as the
  28. B<-inform> option.
  29. =item B<-in filename>
  30. This specifies the input filename to read from or standard input if this
  31. option is not specified.
  32. =item B<-out filename>
  33. specifies the output filename to write to or standard output by
  34. default.
  35. =item B<-text>
  36. print out the CRL in text form.
  37. =item B<-noout>
  38. don't output the encoded version of the CRL.
  39. =item B<-hash>
  40. output a hash of the issuer name. This can be use to lookup CRLs in
  41. a directory by issuer name.
  42. =item B<-issuer>
  43. output the issuer name.
  44. =item B<-lastupdate>
  45. output the lastUpdate field.
  46. =item B<-nextupdate>
  47. output the nextUpdate field.
  48. =item B<-CAfile file>
  49. verify the signature on a CRL by looking up the issuing certificate in
  50. B<file>
  51. =item B<-CApath dir>
  52. verify the signature on a CRL by looking up the issuing certificate in
  53. B<dir>. This directory must be a standard certificate directory: that
  54. is a hash of each subject name (using B<x509 -hash>) should be linked
  55. to each certificate.

  57. =head1 NOTES
  58. The PEM CRL format uses the header and footer lines:
  59. -----BEGIN X509 CRL-----
  60. -----END X509 CRL-----
  61. =head1 EXAMPLES
  62. Convert a CRL file from PEM to DER:
  63. openssl crl -in crl.pem -outform DER -out crl.der
  64. Output the text form of a DER encoded certificate:
  65. openssl crl -in crl.der -text -noout
  66. =head1 BUGS
  67. Ideally it should be possible to create a CRL using appropriate options
  68. and files too.
