  1. Upgrading Pagure
  2. ================
  3. From 5.6 to 5.7
  4. ---------------
  5. The 5.7 release does not contain any database schema changes nor changes in the
  6. configuration keys.
  7. From 5.5 to 5.6
  8. ---------------
  9. The 5.6 release contains a database schema updates, so:
  10. * Update the data schema using alembic: ``alembic upgrade head``
  11. (As usual, do your backups before).
  12. New configuration key added:
  13. * CSP_HEADERS
  14. From 5.4 to 5.5
  15. ---------------
  16. The 5.5 release contains a database schema updates, so:
  17. * Update the data schema using alembic: ``alembic upgrade head``
  18. New configuration key added:
  19. * GIT_HOOK_DB_RO
  20. From 5.3.x to 5.4
  21. -----------------
  22. The 5.4 release does not contain any database schema changes, nor any new
  23. configuration key.
  24. From 5.2 to 5.3
  25. ---------------
  26. The 5.3 release contains a database schema updates, so:
  27. * Update the data schema using alembic: ``alembic upgrade head``
  28. (As usual, do your backups before).
  29. While working on pagure 5.3, we found that the version of python werkzeug
  30. available in CentOS 7 is too old and makes some of pagure's tests fail. We
  31. recomment it to be upgrade to at least 0.9.6.
  32. New configuration keys have been added:
  33. * ENABLE_TICKETS_NAMESPACE
  34. * FEDORA_MESSAGING_NOTIFICATIONS
  35. * SYNTAX_ALIAS_OVERRIDES
  36. * ALWAYS_STOMP_ON_COMMITS
  37. * ALWAYS_MQTT_ON_COMMITS
  38. * MQTT_TOPIC_PREFIX
  39. From 5.1.x to 5.2
  40. -----------------
  41. The 5.2 release contains a database schema updates, so:
  42. * Update the data schema using alembic: ``alembic upgrade head``
  43. (As usual, do your backups before).
  44. If you run into issues with the ``hook_mirror``, see the upgrade notes for
  45. the release 5.1.4 below.
  46. Note that the minimal version of pygit2 has been bumped to: 0.26.0
  47. New configuration keys have been added:
  48. * MQTT_NOTIFICATIONS
  49. * MQTT_HOST
  50. * MQTT_PORT
  51. * MQTT_USERNAME
  52. * MQTT_PASSWORD
  53. * MQTT_CA_CERTS
  54. * MQTT_CERTFILE
  55. * MQTT_KEYFILE
  56. * MQTT_CERT_REQS
  57. * MQTT_TLS_VERSION
  58. * MQTT_CIPHERS
  59. * DISABLE_MIRROR_IN
  60. * SSH_ADMIN_TOKEN
  61. * GIT_GARBAGE_COLLECT
  62. * DISABLE_REMOTE_PR
  63. * ADMIN_EMAIL
  64. * LOG_ALL_COMMITS
  65. * ARCHIVE_FOLDER
  66. One configuration key changes its default structure:
  67. * TRIGGER_CI
  68. Changes in dependencies:
  69. * Mimimal version of pygit2 version bumped to: 0.26.0
  70. * Minimal version of openssh set to: 7.4
  71. From 5.1 to 5.1.4
  72. -----------------
  73. In the development of 5.1.4 it was found out that the alembic migration
  74. ``ba538b2648b7`` that creates the ``hook_mirror`` table was incomplete.
  75. If you created that table via alembic, you will likely want to re-run it. Beware
  76. that applying the following commands will destroy any data you have in this
  77. table.
  78. * Mark the database to this migration::
  79. alembic stamp ba538b2648b7
  80. * Remove the ``hook_mirror`` table so it can be re-generated::
  81. alembic downgrade -1
  82. * Re-run that single migration::
  83. alembic upgrade +1
  84. * Marking the database to the last current migration (as of 5.1.4)::
  85. alembic stamp f16ab75e4d32
  86. Again, any project that tried to setup the mirroring feature in pagure will need
  87. to be reconfigured.
  88. Another option (that will prevent loosing any data in this table) is to
  89. adjust the table manually using these SQL queries:
  90. ::
  91. ALTER TABLE hook_mirror ADD COLUMN 'public_key' TEXT;
  92. ALTER TABLE hook_mirror ADD COLUMN 'target' TEXT;
  93. ALTER TABLE hook_mirror ADD COLUMN 'last_log' TEXT;
  94. From 5.x to 5.1
  95. ---------------
  96. The 5.1 release contains a database schema updates, so:
  97. * Update the data schema using alembic: ``alembic upgrade head``
  98. (As usual, do your backups before).
  99. New configuration keys added:
  100. * ALLOW_ADMIN_IGNORE_EXISTING_REPOS
  101. * ALLOW_HTTP_PULL_PUSH
  102. * ALLOW_HTTP_PUSH
  103. * HTTP_REPO_ACCESS_GITOLITE
  104. From 5.0 to 5.0.1
  105. -----------------
  106. The 5.0 release was missing a database schema migration to add the
  107. ``hook_mirror`` table. This alembic migration has been added, so if you have
  108. note update to 5.0, you will want to update your database schema using:
  109. ``alembic upgrade head``. If you went around this issue by running the
  110. ``pagure_createdb.py`` script, you can mark you database schema up to date using
  111. ``alembic stamp ba538b2648b7``.
  112. From 4.x to 5.0
  113. ---------------
  114. The release 5.0 brings some changes to the database schema.
  115. * Update the data schema using alembic: ``alembic upgrade head``
  116. New configuration keys added:
  117. * PR_TARGET_MATCHING_BRANCH
  118. * EMAIL_ON_WATCHCOMMITS
  119. * THEME
  120. * GIT_AUTH_BACKEND (replacing GITOLITE_BACKEND, backward compatibility kept for
  121. now)
  122. * REPOSPANNER_PSEUDO_FOLDER
  123. * REPOSPANNER_NEW_REPO
  124. * REPOSPANNER_NEW_REPO_ADMIN_OVERRIDE
  125. * REPOSPANNER_NEW_FORK
  126. * REPOSPANNER_ADMIN_MIGRATION
  127. * REPOSPANNER_REGIONS
  128. * SSH_KEYS_USERNAME_LOOKUP
  129. * SSH_KEYS_USERNAME_EXPECT
  130. * SSH_KEYS_OPTIONS
  131. Configuration deprecated:

  140. * EMAIL_ERROR
  141. * FROM_EMAIL
  142. * DOMAIN_EMAIL_NOTIFICATIONS

  145. * GIT_URL_SSH
  146. * GIT_URL_GIT
  147. * FEDMSG_NOTIFICATIONS
  148. * PAGURE_AUTH
  149. New dependencies:
  150. * trololio (replaces trollius that is no longer a direct dependency)
  151. From 3.x to 4.0
  152. ---------------
  153. The release 4.0 brings some changes to the database schema.
  154. * Update the data schema using alembic: ``alembic upgrade head``
  155. New configuration keys added:
  156. * EMAIL_ON_WATCHCOMMITS
  157. * ALWAYS_FEDMSG_ON_COMMITS
  158. * SESSION_TYPE
  159. * PROJECT_TEMPLATE_PATH
  160. * FORK_TEMPLATE_PATH
  161. From 3.13 to 3.13.1
  162. -------------------
  163. The release 3.13.1 brings one change to the database schema to remove a database
  164. constraint (pull_requests_check in the pull_requests table) that is not only no
  165. longer needed but even blocking now.
  166. * Update the data schema using alembic: ``alembic upgrade head``
  167. From 3.12 to 3.13
  168. -----------------
  169. The release 3.13 brings some features and bug fixes but does not have any
  170. changes made to the database schema or new configuration keys. Update should be
  171. straight forward.
  172. From 3.11 to 3.12
  173. -----------------
  174. The release 3.12 brings some changes to the database schema.
  175. * Update the data schema using alembic: ``alembic upgrade head``
  176. Note that this release bring support for `OpenID
  177. Connect<https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/OpenID_Connect>`_ authentication, meaning
  178. pagure can now be deployed with authentication coming from, for example, google.
  179. This brings a number of new configuration keys:
  180. * OIDC_CLIENT_SECRETS
  181. * OIDC_ID_TOKEN_COOKIE_SECURE
  182. * OIDC_SCOPES
  183. * OIDC_PAGURE_EMAIL
  184. * OIDC_PAGURE_FULLNAME
  185. * OIDC_PAGURE_USERNAME
  186. * OIDC_PAGURE_SSH_KEY
  187. * OIDC_PAGURE_GROUPS
  188. * OIDC_PAGURE_USERNAME_FALLBACK
  189. From 3.10 to 3.11
  190. -----------------
  191. The release 3.11 brings some changes to the database schema.
  192. * Update the data schema using alembic: ``alembic upgrade head``
  193. In addition, if you are deploying pagure with fedmsg support you had to set
  194. fedmsg to the
  195. `active <http://www.fedmsg.com/en/stable/publishing/#publishing-through-a-relay>`_
  196. mode for the workers to be able to send fedmsg messages. This is now the
  197. default and forced configuration.
  198. New API acls:
  199. * commit_flag
  200. * pull_request_subscribe
  201. From 3.9 to 3.10
  202. ----------------
  203. The release 3.10 brings some changes to the database schema.
  204. * Update the data schema using alembic: ``alembic upgrade head``
  205. From 3.8 to 3.9
  206. ---------------
  207. This release brings a number of bug fixes and features but does not require
  208. any special precaution when upgrading.
  209. From 3.7 to 3.8
  210. ---------------
  211. The release 3.8 brings some changes to the database schema.
  212. * Update the data schema using alembic: ``alembic upgrade head``
  213. New configuration keys added:
  214. * PROJECT_NAME_REGEX
  215. From 3.6 to 3.7
  216. ---------------
  217. The release 3.7 brings some changes to the database schema.
  218. * Update the data schema using alembic: ``alembic upgrade head``
  219. New configuration keys added:
  220. * ENABLE_DEL_FORKS
  221. * ENABLE_UI_NEW_PROJECTS
  222. From 3.5 to 3.6
  223. ---------------
  224. New configuration keys added:
  225. * GITOLITE_CELERY_QUEUE
  226. From 3.4 to 3.5
  227. ---------------
  228. New configuration keys added:
  229. * USER_ACLS
  230. * CASE_SENSITIVE
  231. * HTML_TITLE
  232. From 3.3 to 3.4
  233. ---------------
  234. New configuration keys added:
  235. * DEPLOY_KEY
  236. * LOCAL_SSH_KEY
  237. * ALLOW_DELETE_BRANCH
  238. From 3.2 to 3.3
  239. ---------------
  240. [SECURITY FIX]: The 3.3 release contains an important security fix.
  241. If you are using the private project feature of pagure, the gitolite
  242. configuration generated was still granting access to the private projects. This
  243. made the private projects visible and accessible.
  244. After updating to 3.3, ensure your gitolite configuration gets re-generated
  245. (pagure-admin refresh-gitolite can help you with this).
  246. The 3.3 release brings some adjustments to the database schema.
  247. * Update the database schema using alembic: ``alembic upgrade head``
  248. From 3.1 to 3.2
  249. ---------------
  250. While not being a bug fix, this release has no database schema changes.
  251. However, this release breaks the plugin interface for auth introduced in 3.1 and
  252. changed in 3.1. If you are using pagure-dist-git, make sure to upgrade to at
  253. least 0.4. This interface will be considered stable in 3.4 and announced as
  254. such.
  255. From 3.0 to 3.1
  256. ---------------
  257. While not being a bug fix, this release has no database schema changes.
  258. However, this release breaks the plugin interface for auth introduced in 3.0. If
  259. you are using pagure-dist-git, make sure to upgrade to at least 0.3.
  260. From 2.15 to 3.0
  261. ----------------
  262. The 3.0 version was released with some major re-architecturing. The interaction
  263. with the backend git repo (being the main source repo or the tickets or requests
  264. repos) are now done by a worker that is triggered via a message queue.
  265. This communication is done using `celery <http://www.celeryproject.org/>`_ and
  266. via one of the message queue celery supports (pagure currently defaulting to
  267. `redis <https://redis.io/>`_.
  268. So to get pagure 3.0 running, you will need to get your own message queue (such
  269. as redis) up running and configured in pagure's configuration.
  270. This major version bump has also been an opportunity to rename all the services
  271. to use the same naming schema of pagure-<service>.
  272. The rename is as such:
  273. +------------------+-----------------+
  274. | In 2.x | From 3.0 |
  275. +==================+=================+
  276. | pagure-ci | pagure-ci |
  277. +------------------+-----------------+
  278. | ev-server | pagure-ev |
  279. +------------------+-----------------+
  280. | pagure-loadjson | pagure-loadjson |
  281. +------------------+-----------------+
  282. | pagure-logcom | pagure-logcom |
  283. +------------------+-----------------+
  284. | milters | pagure-milters |
  285. +------------------+-----------------+
  286. | webhook-server | pagure-webhook |
  287. +------------------+-----------------+
  288. | | pagure-worker |
  289. +------------------+-----------------+
  290. .. note:: This last service is the service mentioned above and it is part of
  291. pagure core, not optional unlike the other services in this table.
  292. This release also introduces some new configuration keys:
  293. - ``CELERY_CONFIG`` defaults to ``{}``
  294. - ``ATTACHMENTS_FOLDER``, to be configured
  295. - ``GITOLITE_BACKEND`` defaults to ``gitolite3``, deprecates ``GITOLITE_VERSION``
  296. - ``EXTERNAL_COMMITTER`` defaults to ``{}``
  297. - ``REQUIRED_GROUPS`` defaults to ``{}``
  298. This version also introduces a few database changes, so you will need to update
  299. the database schema using alembic: ``alembic upgrade head``.
  300. From 2.14 to 2.15
  301. -----------------
  302. The 2.15 release brings some adjustments to the database scheme.
  303. * Update the database schame using alembic: ``alembic upgrade head``
  304. From 2.13 to 2.14
  305. -----------------
  306. The 2.14 release brings some adjustments to the database scheme.
  307. * Update the database schame using alembic: ``alembic upgrade head``
  308. From 2.12 to 2.13
  309. -----------------
  310. The 2.13 release brings some adjustments to the database scheme.
  311. * Update the database schame using alembic: ``alembic upgrade head``
  312. From 2.11 to 2.12
  313. -----------------
  314. From this release on, we will have alembic migration script for new table
  315. creation, so there will no longer be a need to use ``createdb.py``
  316. The 2.12 release brings some adjustments to the database scheme.
  317. * Update the database schame using alembic: ``alembic upgrade head``
  318. From 2.10 to 2.11
  319. -----------------
  320. The 2.10 releases brings some adjustments to the database scheme.
  321. * Create the new DB tables and the new status field using the ``createdb.py``
  322. script.
  323. * Update the database schame using alembic: ``alembic upgrade head``
  324. From 2.9 to 2.10
  325. ----------------
  326. The 2.10 releases brings some little changes to the database scheme.
  327. Therefore when upgrading to 2.10, you will have to:
  328. * Update the database schame using alembic: ``alembic upgrade head``
  329. From 2.8 to 2.9
  330. ---------------
  331. The 2.9 releases brings some adjustments to the database scheme.
  332. * Create the new DB tables and the new status field using the ``createdb.py``
  333. script.
  334. * Update the database schame using alembic: ``alembic upgrade head``
  335. If you are interested in loading your local data into the ``pagure_logs`` table
  336. that this new release adds (data which is then displayed in the calendar heatmap
  337. on the user's page), you can find two utility scripts in
  338. https://pagure.io/pagure-utility that will help you to do that. They are:
  339. * fill_logs_from_db - Based on the data present in the database, this script
  340. fills the ``pagure_logs`` table (this will add: new ticket, new comment, new
  341. PR, closing a PR or a ticket and so on).
  342. * fill_logs_from_gits - By going through all the git repo hosted in your pagure
  343. instance, it will log who did what when.
  344. From 2.7 to 2.8
  345. ---------------
  346. 2.8 brings a little change to the database scheme.
  347. Therefore when upgrading to from 2.7 to 2.8, you will have to:
  348. * Update the database schame using alembic: ``alembic upgrade head``
  349. From 2.6 to 2.7
  350. ---------------
  351. 2.7 adds new tables as well as changes some of the existing ones.
  352. Therefore when upgrading to 2.7, you will have to:
  353. * Create the new DB tables and the new status field using the ``createdb.py``
  354. script.
  355. * Update the database schame using alembic, one of the upgrade will require
  356. access to pagure's configuration file, which should thus be passed onto the
  357. command via an environment variable:
  358. ``PAGURE_CONFIG=/path/to/pagure.cf alembic upgrade head``
  359. This release also brings a new configuration key:
  360. * ``INSTANCE_NAME`` used in the welcome screen shown upon first login (only with
  361. FAS and OpenID auth) to describe the instance
  362. The API has also been upgraded to a version ``0.8`` due to the changes (backward
  363. compatible) made to support the introduction of `close_status` to issues.
  364. From 2.5 to 2.6
  365. ---------------
  366. 2.6 brings quite a few changes and some of them impacting the database scheme.
  367. Therefore when upgrading from 2.4 to 2.6, you will have to:
  368. * Update the database schame using alembic: ``alembic upgrade head``
  369. From 2.4 to 2.5
  370. ---------------
  371. 2.5 brings quite a few changes and some of them impacting the database scheme.
  372. Therefore when upgrading from 2.4 to 2.5, you will have to:
  373. * Update the database schame using alembic: ``alembic upgrade head``
  374. From 2.3 to 2.4
  375. ---------------
  376. 2.4 brings quite a few changes and some of them impacting the database scheme.
  377. Therefore when upgrading from 2.3.x to 2.4, you will have to:
  378. * Update the database schame using alembic: ``alembic upgrade head``
  379. This update also brings some new configuration keys:
  380. * ``VIRUS_SCAN_ATTACHMENTS`` allows turning on or off checking attachments for
  381. virus using clamav. This requires pyclamd but is entirely optional (and off by
  382. default)
  383. * ``PAGURE_CI_SERVICES`` allows specifying with which CI (Continuous
  384. Integration) services this pagure instance can integrate with. Currently, only
  385. `Jenkins` is supported, but this configuration key defaults to ``None``.
  386. From 2.2 to 2.3
  387. ---------------
  388. 2.3 brings a few changes impacting the database scheme, including a new
  389. `duplicate` status for tickets, a feature allowing one to `watch` or
  390. `unwatch` a project and notifications on tickets as exist on pull-requests.
  391. Therefore, when upgrading from 2.2.x to 2.3, you will have to :
  392. * Create the new DB tables and the new status field using the ``createdb.py`` script.
  393. * Update the database schame using alembic: ``alembic upgrade head``
  394. This update also brings a new configuration key:
  395. * ``PAGURE_ADMIN_USERS`` allows to mark some users as instance-wide admins, giving
  396. them full access to every projects, private or not. This feature can then be
  397. used as a way to clean spams.
  398. * ``SMTP_PORT`` allows to specify the port to use when contacting the SMTP
  399. server
  400. * ``SMTP_SSL`` allows to specify whether to use SSL when contacting the SMTP
  401. server
  402. * ``SMTP_USERNAME`` and ``SMTP_PASSWORD`` if provided together allow to contact
  403. an SMTP requiring authentication.
  404. In this update is also added the script ``api_key_expire_mail.py`` meant to be
  405. run by a daily cron job and warning users when their API token is nearing its
  406. expiration date.
  407. 2.2.2
  408. -----
  409. Release 2.2.2 contains an important security fix, blocking a source of XSS
  410. attack.
  411. From 2.1 to 2.2
  412. ---------------
  413. 2.2 brings a number of bug fixes and a few improvements.
  414. One of the major changes impacts the databases where we must change some of the
  415. table so that the foreign key cascade on delete (fixes deleting a project when a
  416. few plugins were activated).
  417. When upgrading for 2.1 to 2.2 all you will have to do is:
  418. * Update the database scheme using alembic: ``alembic upgrade head``
  419. .. note:: If you run another database system than PostgreSQL the alembic
  420. revision ``317a285e04a8_delete_hooks.py`` will require adjustment as the
  421. foreign key constraints are named and the names are driver dependant.
  422. From 2.0 to 2.1
  423. ---------------
  424. 2.1 brings its usual flow of improvements and bug fixes.
  425. When upgrading from 2.0.x to 2.1 all you will have to:
  426. * Update the database schame using alembic: ``alembic upgrade head``
  427. From 1.x to 2.0
  428. ---------------
  429. As the version change indicates, 2.0 brings quite a number of changes,
  430. including some that are not backward compatible.
  431. When upgrading to 2.0 you will have to:
  432. * Update the database schema using alembic: ``alembic upgrade head``
  433. * Create the new DB tables so that the new plugins work using the
  434. ``createdb.py`` script
  435. * Move the forks git repo
  436. Forked git repos are now located under the same folder as the regular git
  437. repos, just under a ``forks/`` subfolder.
  438. So the structure changes from: ::
  439. repos/
  440. ├── foo.git
  441. └── bar.git
  442. forks/
  443. ├── patrick/
  444. │  ├── test.git
  445. │  └── ipsilon.git
  446. └── pingou/
  447. ├── foo.git
  448. └── bar.git
  449. to: ::
  450. repos/
  451. ├── foo.git
  452. ├── bar.git
  453. └── forks/
  454. ├── patrick/
  455. │  ├── test.git
  456. │  └── ipsilon.git
  457. └── pingou/
  458. ├── foo.git
  459. └── bar.git
  460. So the entire ``forks`` folder is moved under the ``repos`` folder where
  461. the other repositories are, containing the sources of the projects.
  462. Git repos for ``tickets``, ``requests`` and ``docs`` will be trickier to
  463. move as the structure changes from: ::
  464. tickets/
  465. ├── foo.git
  466. ├── bar.git
  467. ├── patrick/
  468. │  ├── test.git
  469. │  └── ipsilon.git
  470. └── pingou/
  471. ├── foo.git
  472. └── bar.git
  473. to: ::
  474. tickets/
  475. ├── foo.git
  476. ├── bar.git
  477. └── forks/
  478. ├── patrick/
  479. │  ├── test.git
  480. │  └── ipsilon.git
  481. └── pingou/
  482. ├── foo.git
  483. └── bar.git
  484. Same for the ``requests`` and the ``docs`` git repos.
  485. As you can see in the ``tickets``, ``requests`` and ``docs`` folders there
  486. are two types of folders, git repos which are folder with a name ending
  487. with ``.git``, and folder corresponding to usernames. These last ones are
  488. the ones to be moved into a subfolder ``forks/``.
  489. This can be done using something like: ::
  490. mkdir forks
  491. for i in `ls -1 |grep -v '\.git'`; do mv $i forks/; done
  492. * Re-generate the gitolite configuration.
  493. This can be done via the ``Re-generate gitolite ACLs file`` button in the
  494. admin page.
  495. * Keep URLs backward compatible
  496. The support of pseudo-namespace in pagure 2.0 has required some changes
  497. to the URL schema:
  498. https://pagure.io/pagure/053d8cc95fcd50c23a8b0a7f70e55f8d1cc7aebb
  499. became:
  500. https://pagure.io/pagure/c/053d8cc95fcd50c23a8b0a7f70e55f8d1cc7aebb
  501. (Note the added /c/ in it)
  502. We introduced a backward compatibility fix for this.
  503. This fix is however *disabled* by default so if you wish to keep the URLs
  504. valid, you will need to adjust you configuration file to include: ::
  505. OLD_VIEW_COMMIT_ENABLED = True
