  1. Upgrading Pagure
  2. ================
  3. From 5.4 to 5.5
  4. ---------------
  5. The 5.5 release contains a database schema updates, so:
  6. * Update the data schema using alembic: ``alembic upgrade head``
  7. New configuration key added:
  8. * GIT_HOOK_DB_RO
  9. From 5.3.x to 5.4
  10. -----------------
  11. The 5.4 release does not contain any database schema changes, nor any new
  12. configuration key.
  13. From 5.2 to 5.3
  14. ---------------
  15. The 5.3 release contains a database schema updates, so:
  16. * Update the data schema using alembic: ``alembic upgrade head``
  17. (As usual, do your backups before).
  18. While working on pagure 5.3, we found that the version of python werkzeug
  19. available in CentOS 7 is too old and makes some of pagure's tests fail. We
  20. recomment it to be upgrade to at least 0.9.6.
  21. New configuration keys have been added:
  22. * ENABLE_TICKETS_NAMESPACE
  23. * FEDORA_MESSAGING_NOTIFICATIONS
  24. * SYNTAX_ALIAS_OVERRIDES
  25. * ALWAYS_STOMP_ON_COMMITS
  26. * ALWAYS_MQTT_ON_COMMITS
  27. * MQTT_TOPIC_PREFIX
  28. From 5.1.x to 5.2
  29. -----------------
  30. The 5.2 release contains a database schema updates, so:
  31. * Update the data schema using alembic: ``alembic upgrade head``
  32. (As usual, do your backups before).
  33. If you run into issues with the ``hook_mirror``, see the upgrade notes for
  34. the release 5.1.4 below.
  35. Note that the minimal version of pygit2 has been bumped to: 0.26.0
  36. New configuration keys have been added:
  37. * MQTT_NOTIFICATIONS
  38. * MQTT_HOST
  39. * MQTT_PORT
  40. * MQTT_USERNAME
  41. * MQTT_PASSWORD
  42. * MQTT_CA_CERTS
  43. * MQTT_CERTFILE
  44. * MQTT_KEYFILE
  45. * MQTT_CERT_REQS
  46. * MQTT_TLS_VERSION
  47. * MQTT_CIPHERS
  48. * DISABLE_MIRROR_IN
  49. * SSH_ADMIN_TOKEN
  50. * GIT_GARBAGE_COLLECT
  51. * DISABLE_REMOTE_PR
  52. * ADMIN_EMAIL
  53. * LOG_ALL_COMMITS
  54. * ARCHIVE_FOLDER
  55. One configuration key changes its default structure:
  56. * TRIGGER_CI
  57. Changes in dependencies:
  58. * Mimimal version of pygit2 version bumped to: 0.26.0
  59. * Minimal version of openssh set to: 7.4
  60. From 5.1 to 5.1.4
  61. -----------------
  62. In the development of 5.1.4 it was found out that the alembic migration
  63. ``ba538b2648b7`` that creates the ``hook_mirror`` table was incomplete.
  64. If you created that table via alembic, you will likely want to re-run it. Beware
  65. that applying the following commands will destroy any data you have in this
  66. table.
  67. * Mark the database to this migration::
  68. alembic stamp ba538b2648b7
  69. * Remove the ``hook_mirror`` table so it can be re-generated::
  70. alembic downgrade -1
  71. * Re-run that single migration::
  72. alembic upgrade +1
  73. * Marking the database to the last current migration (as of 5.1.4)::
  74. alembic stamp f16ab75e4d32
  75. Again, any project that tried to setup the mirroring feature in pagure will need
  76. to be reconfigured.
  77. Another option (that will prevent loosing any data in this table) is to
  78. adjust the table manually using these SQL queries:
  79. ::
  80. ALTER TABLE hook_mirror ADD COLUMN 'public_key' TEXT;
  81. ALTER TABLE hook_mirror ADD COLUMN 'target' TEXT;
  82. ALTER TABLE hook_mirror ADD COLUMN 'last_log' TEXT;
  83. From 5.x to 5.1
  84. ---------------
  85. The 5.1 release contains a database schema updates, so:
  86. * Update the data schema using alembic: ``alembic upgrade head``
  87. (As usual, do your backups before).
  88. New configuration keys added:
  89. * ALLOW_ADMIN_IGNORE_EXISTING_REPOS
  90. * ALLOW_HTTP_PULL_PUSH
  91. * ALLOW_HTTP_PUSH
  92. * HTTP_REPO_ACCESS_GITOLITE
  93. From 5.0 to 5.0.1
  94. -----------------
  95. The 5.0 release was missing a database schema migration to add the
  96. ``hook_mirror`` table. This alembic migration has been added, so if you have
  97. note update to 5.0, you will want to update your database schema using:
  98. ``alembic upgrade head``. If you went around this issue by running the
  99. ``pagure_createdb.py`` script, you can mark you database schema up to date using
  100. ``alembic stamp ba538b2648b7``.
  101. From 4.x to 5.0
  102. ---------------
  103. The release 5.0 brings some changes to the database schema.
  104. * Update the data schema using alembic: ``alembic upgrade head``
  105. New configuration keys added:
  106. * PR_TARGET_MATCHING_BRANCH
  107. * EMAIL_ON_WATCHCOMMITS
  108. * THEME
  109. * GIT_AUTH_BACKEND (replacing GITOLITE_BACKEND, backward compatibility kept for
  110. now)
  111. * REPOSPANNER_PSEUDO_FOLDER
  112. * REPOSPANNER_NEW_REPO
  113. * REPOSPANNER_NEW_REPO_ADMIN_OVERRIDE
  114. * REPOSPANNER_NEW_FORK
  115. * REPOSPANNER_ADMIN_MIGRATION
  116. * REPOSPANNER_REGIONS
  117. * SSH_KEYS_USERNAME_LOOKUP
  118. * SSH_KEYS_USERNAME_EXPECT
  119. * SSH_KEYS_OPTIONS
  120. Configuration deprecated:
  121. * BOOTSTRAP_URLS_CSS
  122. * BOOTSTRAP_URLS_JS
  123. * FILE_SIZE_HIGHLIGHT
  124. * HTML_TITLE

  126. Note: Some configuration keys changed their default value:
  127. * LOGGING
  128. * PRIVATE_PROJECTS
  129. * EMAIL_ERROR
  130. * FROM_EMAIL
  131. * DOMAIN_EMAIL_NOTIFICATIONS
  132. * APP_URL
  133. * DOC_APP_URL
  134. * GIT_URL_SSH
  135. * GIT_URL_GIT
  136. * FEDMSG_NOTIFICATIONS
  137. * PAGURE_AUTH
  138. New dependencies:
  139. * trololio (replaces trollius that is no longer a direct dependency)
  140. From 3.x to 4.0
  141. ---------------
  142. The release 4.0 brings some changes to the database schema.
  143. * Update the data schema using alembic: ``alembic upgrade head``
  144. New configuration keys added:
  145. * EMAIL_ON_WATCHCOMMITS
  146. * ALWAYS_FEDMSG_ON_COMMITS
  147. * SESSION_TYPE
  148. * PROJECT_TEMPLATE_PATH
  149. * FORK_TEMPLATE_PATH
  150. From 3.13 to 3.13.1
  151. -------------------
  152. The release 3.13.1 brings one change to the database schema to remove a database
  153. constraint (pull_requests_check in the pull_requests table) that is not only no
  154. longer needed but even blocking now.
  155. * Update the data schema using alembic: ``alembic upgrade head``
  156. From 3.12 to 3.13
  157. -----------------
  158. The release 3.13 brings some features and bug fixes but does not have any
  159. changes made to the database schema or new configuration keys. Update should be
  160. straight forward.
  161. From 3.11 to 3.12
  162. -----------------
  163. The release 3.12 brings some changes to the database schema.
  164. * Update the data schema using alembic: ``alembic upgrade head``
  165. Note that this release bring support for `OpenID
  166. Connect<https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/OpenID_Connect>`_ authentication, meaning
  167. pagure can now be deployed with authentication coming from, for example, google.
  168. This brings a number of new configuration keys:
  169. * OIDC_CLIENT_SECRETS
  170. * OIDC_ID_TOKEN_COOKIE_SECURE
  171. * OIDC_SCOPES
  172. * OIDC_PAGURE_EMAIL
  173. * OIDC_PAGURE_FULLNAME
  174. * OIDC_PAGURE_USERNAME
  175. * OIDC_PAGURE_SSH_KEY
  176. * OIDC_PAGURE_GROUPS
  177. * OIDC_PAGURE_USERNAME_FALLBACK
  178. From 3.10 to 3.11
  179. -----------------
  180. The release 3.11 brings some changes to the database schema.
  181. * Update the data schema using alembic: ``alembic upgrade head``
  182. In addition, if you are deploying pagure with fedmsg support you had to set
  183. fedmsg to the
  184. `active <http://www.fedmsg.com/en/stable/publishing/#publishing-through-a-relay>`_
  185. mode for the workers to be able to send fedmsg messages. This is now the
  186. default and forced configuration.
  187. New API acls:
  188. * commit_flag
  189. * pull_request_subscribe
  190. From 3.9 to 3.10
  191. ----------------
  192. The release 3.10 brings some changes to the database schema.
  193. * Update the data schema using alembic: ``alembic upgrade head``
  194. From 3.8 to 3.9
  195. ---------------
  196. This release brings a number of bug fixes and features but does not require
  197. any special precaution when upgrading.
  198. From 3.7 to 3.8
  199. ---------------
  200. The release 3.8 brings some changes to the database schema.
  201. * Update the data schema using alembic: ``alembic upgrade head``
  202. New configuration keys added:
  203. * PROJECT_NAME_REGEX
  204. From 3.6 to 3.7
  205. ---------------
  206. The release 3.7 brings some changes to the database schema.
  207. * Update the data schema using alembic: ``alembic upgrade head``
  208. New configuration keys added:
  209. * ENABLE_DEL_FORKS
  210. * ENABLE_UI_NEW_PROJECTS
  211. From 3.5 to 3.6
  212. ---------------
  213. New configuration keys added:
  214. * GITOLITE_CELERY_QUEUE
  215. From 3.4 to 3.5
  216. ---------------
  217. New configuration keys added:
  218. * USER_ACLS
  219. * CASE_SENSITIVE
  220. * HTML_TITLE
  221. From 3.3 to 3.4
  222. ---------------
  223. New configuration keys added:
  224. * DEPLOY_KEY
  225. * LOCAL_SSH_KEY
  226. * ALLOW_DELETE_BRANCH
  227. From 3.2 to 3.3
  228. ---------------
  229. [SECURITY FIX]: The 3.3 release contains an important security fix.
  230. If you are using the private project feature of pagure, the gitolite
  231. configuration generated was still granting access to the private projects. This
  232. made the private projects visible and accessible.
  233. After updating to 3.3, ensure your gitolite configuration gets re-generated
  234. (pagure-admin refresh-gitolite can help you with this).
  235. The 3.3 release brings some adjustments to the database schema.
  236. * Update the database schema using alembic: ``alembic upgrade head``
  237. From 3.1 to 3.2
  238. ---------------
  239. While not being a bug fix, this release has no database schema changes.
  240. However, this release breaks the plugin interface for auth introduced in 3.1 and
  241. changed in 3.1. If you are using pagure-dist-git, make sure to upgrade to at
  242. least 0.4. This interface will be considered stable in 3.4 and announced as
  243. such.
  244. From 3.0 to 3.1
  245. ---------------
  246. While not being a bug fix, this release has no database schema changes.
  247. However, this release breaks the plugin interface for auth introduced in 3.0. If
  248. you are using pagure-dist-git, make sure to upgrade to at least 0.3.
  249. From 2.15 to 3.0
  250. ----------------
  251. The 3.0 version was released with some major re-architecturing. The interaction
  252. with the backend git repo (being the main source repo or the tickets or requests
  253. repos) are now done by a worker that is triggered via a message queue.
  254. This communication is done using `celery <http://www.celeryproject.org/>`_ and
  255. via one of the message queue celery supports (pagure currently defaulting to
  256. `redis <https://redis.io/>`_.
  257. So to get pagure 3.0 running, you will need to get your own message queue (such
  258. as redis) up running and configured in pagure's configuration.
  259. This major version bump has also been an opportunity to rename all the services
  260. to use the same naming schema of pagure-<service>.
  261. The rename is as such:
  262. +------------------+-----------------+
  263. | In 2.x | From 3.0 |
  264. +==================+=================+
  265. | pagure-ci | pagure-ci |
  266. +------------------+-----------------+
  267. | ev-server | pagure-ev |
  268. +------------------+-----------------+
  269. | pagure-loadjson | pagure-loadjson |
  270. +------------------+-----------------+
  271. | pagure-logcom | pagure-logcom |
  272. +------------------+-----------------+
  273. | milters | pagure-milters |
  274. +------------------+-----------------+
  275. | webhook-server | pagure-webhook |
  276. +------------------+-----------------+
  277. | | pagure-worker |
  278. +------------------+-----------------+
  279. .. note:: This last service is the service mentioned above and it is part of
  280. pagure core, not optional unlike the other services in this table.
  281. This release also introduces some new configuration keys:
  282. - ``CELERY_CONFIG`` defaults to ``{}``
  283. - ``ATTACHMENTS_FOLDER``, to be configured
  284. - ``GITOLITE_BACKEND`` defaults to ``gitolite3``, deprecates ``GITOLITE_VERSION``
  285. - ``EXTERNAL_COMMITTER`` defaults to ``{}``
  286. - ``REQUIRED_GROUPS`` defaults to ``{}``
  287. This version also introduces a few database changes, so you will need to update
  288. the database schema using alembic: ``alembic upgrade head``.
  289. From 2.14 to 2.15
  290. -----------------
  291. The 2.15 release brings some adjustments to the database scheme.
  292. * Update the database schame using alembic: ``alembic upgrade head``
  293. From 2.13 to 2.14
  294. -----------------
  295. The 2.14 release brings some adjustments to the database scheme.
  296. * Update the database schame using alembic: ``alembic upgrade head``
  297. From 2.12 to 2.13
  298. -----------------
  299. The 2.13 release brings some adjustments to the database scheme.
  300. * Update the database schame using alembic: ``alembic upgrade head``
  301. From 2.11 to 2.12
  302. -----------------
  303. From this release on, we will have alembic migration script for new table
  304. creation, so there will no longer be a need to use ``createdb.py``
  305. The 2.12 release brings some adjustments to the database scheme.
  306. * Update the database schame using alembic: ``alembic upgrade head``
  307. From 2.10 to 2.11
  308. -----------------
  309. The 2.10 releases brings some adjustments to the database scheme.
  310. * Create the new DB tables and the new status field using the ``createdb.py``
  311. script.
  312. * Update the database schame using alembic: ``alembic upgrade head``
  313. From 2.9 to 2.10
  314. ----------------
  315. The 2.10 releases brings some little changes to the database scheme.
  316. Therefore when upgrading to 2.10, you will have to:
  317. * Update the database schame using alembic: ``alembic upgrade head``
  318. From 2.8 to 2.9
  319. ---------------
  320. The 2.9 releases brings some adjustments to the database scheme.
  321. * Create the new DB tables and the new status field using the ``createdb.py``
  322. script.
  323. * Update the database schame using alembic: ``alembic upgrade head``
  324. If you are interested in loading your local data into the ``pagure_logs`` table
  325. that this new release adds (data which is then displayed in the calendar heatmap
  326. on the user's page), you can find two utility scripts in
  327. https://pagure.io/pagure-utility that will help you to do that. They are:
  328. * fill_logs_from_db - Based on the data present in the database, this script
  329. fills the ``pagure_logs`` table (this will add: new ticket, new comment, new
  330. PR, closing a PR or a ticket and so on).
  331. * fill_logs_from_gits - By going through all the git repo hosted in your pagure
  332. instance, it will log who did what when.
  333. From 2.7 to 2.8
  334. ---------------
  335. 2.8 brings a little change to the database scheme.
  336. Therefore when upgrading to from 2.7 to 2.8, you will have to:
  337. * Update the database schame using alembic: ``alembic upgrade head``
  338. From 2.6 to 2.7
  339. ---------------
  340. 2.7 adds new tables as well as changes some of the existing ones.
  341. Therefore when upgrading to 2.7, you will have to:
  342. * Create the new DB tables and the new status field using the ``createdb.py``
  343. script.
  344. * Update the database schame using alembic, one of the upgrade will require
  345. access to pagure's configuration file, which should thus be passed onto the
  346. command via an environment variable:
  347. ``PAGURE_CONFIG=/path/to/pagure.cf alembic upgrade head``
  348. This release also brings a new configuration key:
  349. * ``INSTANCE_NAME`` used in the welcome screen shown upon first login (only with
  350. FAS and OpenID auth) to describe the instance
  351. The API has also been upgraded to a version ``0.8`` due to the changes (backward
  352. compatible) made to support the introduction of `close_status` to issues.
  353. From 2.5 to 2.6
  354. ---------------
  355. 2.6 brings quite a few changes and some of them impacting the database scheme.
  356. Therefore when upgrading from 2.4 to 2.6, you will have to:
  357. * Update the database schame using alembic: ``alembic upgrade head``
  358. From 2.4 to 2.5
  359. ---------------
  360. 2.5 brings quite a few changes and some of them impacting the database scheme.
  361. Therefore when upgrading from 2.4 to 2.5, you will have to:
  362. * Update the database schame using alembic: ``alembic upgrade head``
  363. From 2.3 to 2.4
  364. ---------------
  365. 2.4 brings quite a few changes and some of them impacting the database scheme.
  366. Therefore when upgrading from 2.3.x to 2.4, you will have to:
  367. * Update the database schame using alembic: ``alembic upgrade head``
  368. This update also brings some new configuration keys:
  369. * ``VIRUS_SCAN_ATTACHMENTS`` allows turning on or off checking attachments for
  370. virus using clamav. This requires pyclamd but is entirely optional (and off by
  371. default)
  372. * ``PAGURE_CI_SERVICES`` allows specifying with which CI (Continuous
  373. Integration) services this pagure instance can integrate with. Currently, only
  374. `Jenkins` is supported, but this configuration key defaults to ``None``.
  375. From 2.2 to 2.3
  376. ---------------
  377. 2.3 brings a few changes impacting the database scheme, including a new
  378. `duplicate` status for tickets, a feature allowing one to `watch` or
  379. `unwatch` a project and notifications on tickets as exist on pull-requests.
  380. Therefore, when upgrading from 2.2.x to 2.3, you will have to :
  381. * Create the new DB tables and the new status field using the ``createdb.py`` script.
  382. * Update the database schame using alembic: ``alembic upgrade head``
  383. This update also brings a new configuration key:
  384. * ``PAGURE_ADMIN_USERS`` allows to mark some users as instance-wide admins, giving
  385. them full access to every projects, private or not. This feature can then be
  386. used as a way to clean spams.
  387. * ``SMTP_PORT`` allows to specify the port to use when contacting the SMTP
  388. server
  389. * ``SMTP_SSL`` allows to specify whether to use SSL when contacting the SMTP
  390. server
  391. * ``SMTP_USERNAME`` and ``SMTP_PASSWORD`` if provided together allow to contact
  392. an SMTP requiring authentication.
  393. In this update is also added the script ``api_key_expire_mail.py`` meant to be
  394. run by a daily cron job and warning users when their API token is nearing its
  395. expiration date.
  396. 2.2.2
  397. -----
  398. Release 2.2.2 contains an important security fix, blocking a source of XSS
  399. attack.
  400. From 2.1 to 2.2
  401. ---------------
  402. 2.2 brings a number of bug fixes and a few improvements.
  403. One of the major changes impacts the databases where we must change some of the
  404. table so that the foreign key cascade on delete (fixes deleting a project when a
  405. few plugins were activated).
  406. When upgrading for 2.1 to 2.2 all you will have to do is:
  407. * Update the database scheme using alembic: ``alembic upgrade head``
  408. .. note:: If you run another database system than PostgreSQL the alembic
  409. revision ``317a285e04a8_delete_hooks.py`` will require adjustment as the
  410. foreign key constraints are named and the names are driver dependant.
  411. From 2.0 to 2.1
  412. ---------------
  413. 2.1 brings its usual flow of improvements and bug fixes.
  414. When upgrading from 2.0.x to 2.1 all you will have to:
  415. * Update the database schame using alembic: ``alembic upgrade head``
  416. From 1.x to 2.0
  417. ---------------
  418. As the version change indicates, 2.0 brings quite a number of changes,
  419. including some that are not backward compatible.
  420. When upgrading to 2.0 you will have to:
  421. * Update the database schema using alembic: ``alembic upgrade head``
  422. * Create the new DB tables so that the new plugins work using the
  423. ``createdb.py`` script
  424. * Move the forks git repo
  425. Forked git repos are now located under the same folder as the regular git
  426. repos, just under a ``forks/`` subfolder.
  427. So the structure changes from: ::
  428. repos/
  429. ├── foo.git
  430. └── bar.git
  431. forks/
  432. ├── patrick/
  433. │  ├── test.git
  434. │  └── ipsilon.git
  435. └── pingou/
  436. ├── foo.git
  437. └── bar.git
  438. to: ::
  439. repos/
  440. ├── foo.git
  441. ├── bar.git
  442. └── forks/
  443. ├── patrick/
  444. │  ├── test.git
  445. │  └── ipsilon.git
  446. └── pingou/
  447. ├── foo.git
  448. └── bar.git
  449. So the entire ``forks`` folder is moved under the ``repos`` folder where
  450. the other repositories are, containing the sources of the projects.
  451. Git repos for ``tickets``, ``requests`` and ``docs`` will be trickier to
  452. move as the structure changes from: ::
  453. tickets/
  454. ├── foo.git
  455. ├── bar.git
  456. ├── patrick/
  457. │  ├── test.git
  458. │  └── ipsilon.git
  459. └── pingou/
  460. ├── foo.git
  461. └── bar.git
  462. to: ::
  463. tickets/
  464. ├── foo.git
  465. ├── bar.git
  466. └── forks/
  467. ├── patrick/
  468. │  ├── test.git
  469. │  └── ipsilon.git
  470. └── pingou/
  471. ├── foo.git
  472. └── bar.git
  473. Same for the ``requests`` and the ``docs`` git repos.
  474. As you can see in the ``tickets``, ``requests`` and ``docs`` folders there
  475. are two types of folders, git repos which are folder with a name ending
  476. with ``.git``, and folder corresponding to usernames. These last ones are
  477. the ones to be moved into a subfolder ``forks/``.
  478. This can be done using something like: ::
  479. mkdir forks
  480. for i in `ls -1 |grep -v '\.git'`; do mv $i forks/; done
  481. * Re-generate the gitolite configuration.
  482. This can be done via the ``Re-generate gitolite ACLs file`` button in the
  483. admin page.
  484. * Keep URLs backward compatible
  485. The support of pseudo-namespace in pagure 2.0 has required some changes
  486. to the URL schema:
  487. https://pagure.io/pagure/053d8cc95fcd50c23a8b0a7f70e55f8d1cc7aebb
  488. became:
  489. https://pagure.io/pagure/c/053d8cc95fcd50c23a8b0a7f70e55f8d1cc7aebb
  490. (Note the added /c/ in it)
  491. We introduced a backward compatibility fix for this.
  492. This fix is however *disabled* by default so if you wish to keep the URLs
  493. valid, you will need to adjust you configuration file to include: ::
  494. OLD_VIEW_COMMIT_ENABLED = True
